The Cu Chi Tunnels are an immense network of connecting underground tunnels located in the Cu Chi district of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and are part of a much larger network of tunnels that underlie much of the country. The Cu Chi area lies at the end of the Ho Chi Minh Trail and was the base from which Ho Chi Minh guerillas used to attack Saigon. As a result the whole area became a "free fire zone" and was carpet-bombed in one of many American "scorched-earth" policies. But the residents of Cu Chi took their war underground, literally, developing a network of tunnels that, at its height, stretched as far as Cambodia and included meeting rooms, kitchens, and triage areas - an effective network for waging guerilla warfare on nearby U.S. troops. The U.S. Army's 25th Infantry Division was just next door, and there are detailed maps denoting land that was either U.S.-held, Vietminh-held, or in dispute. The sight supports a small museum of photos and artifacts, as well as an extensive outdoor exhibit of guerilla snares and reconstructions of the original tunnels and bunkers.Today, you will enjoy the amazing Cuchi Tunnels shore excursion with our private and professional guide with the pickup and drop-off inside the port.

From Phu My, a commercial port on the Vietnam East Sea near Vung Tau, it is some 110km to Cuchi Tunnels.
2. Weather in Cu Chi Tunnels?
Cu Chi Tunnels has a tropical monsoon climate - it's very much a typical steaming hot Southeast Asian metropolis where you can expect it to be either hot and dry or hot and wet.
Regardless of the time of year, you'll never need more than one layer of clothing in this southeastern Vietnam city.
Cu Chi Tunnels has two distinct seasons, the northeast monsoon months from November to April and the rainy southwest monsoon months of May through October. Humidity levels average 75% throughout the year but are higher during the rainy season.

Our private guide will pick you up at the jetty in Phu My port (if you are arriving at other port, please request for different quote) and drive to visit the infamous Cu Chi Tunnels.
On arrival at Cu Chi, enjoy a short video which traces the history of the tunnels, their origins, construction and design. A military guide will explain with the use of dioramas the underground network, and display some of the tools and weapons utilized by the guerrillas. Much of the tunnel complex has been open and ventilated so that you can more easily experience the underground meeting rooms, kitchens, hospital and sleeping areas. More adventurous and agile tunnel explorers can experience an unlit pasage, which has not been enlarged for the comfort of visitors! You will be tested to find the hidden tunnels entrances and be given insight into the ingenious methods that the Vietnamese soldiers employed to remain undetected and frustrate their enemies.
Refreshments and souvenirs are available in the nearby parking area, which also displays some military paraphernalia.
After the visit, transfer back to the port and drop off by the ship. End of the Cuchi Tunnels tour from cruise ship.
