DAY 4: BANGKOK - AYUTHAYA - LOPBURI - PHITSANULOKE (B,L,)
Right after breakfast we will pick you up at your hotel in Bangkok. Your tour of Thailand begins with a drive to Ayuthaya, about 70 kilometers away. This must-see city is the last capital of the Kingdom of Siam. Here we visit the two impressive temple complexes Wat Mahatat and Wat Si Sanpetch.
Now the journey continues north to Lopburi. The city is also called The Monkey City because hundreds of free-roaming monkeys live in its center. Certainly a fascinating sight, because the animals characterize the everyday streetscape of Lopburi.
In Lopburi we also have a traditional lunch before we continue our journey with fresh energy. Our next destination is called Phitsanuloke. It is around 130 kilometers north of the monkey city. Here we will have our first overnight stay.
Before checking in at our hotel, we will visit the historic Wat Mahatat temple complex, which is very well-known in Thailand. This impressive monument is located in the city center on the banks of the Nan River. The temple is famous for its Buddha statue, which is well worth seeing and is located in the main building. There is also a copy of this Buddha image in Bangkok's marble temple today. After checking in at the hotel, you have the rest of the day at your leisure.
Overnight in Phitsanuloke.
DAY 5: PHITSANULOKE - SUKOTHAI - LAMPANG (B,L)
Today your round trip continues in a varied way. After a hearty breakfast we drive west to Sukothai. The city, about an hour's drive from Phitsanuloke, was the first capital of the Kingdom of Siam.
Here we first visit the beautifully landscaped “Sukhothai Historical Park”. Afterwards we go on a sightseeing tour of the city. With rented bicycles you will visit the most important sights of Sukothai. Among other things, you will visit the most important temples, such as Wat Sra Sri, Wat Mahatat and Wat Si Sawai.
After the sightseeing, it's time for a break and a little refreshment. We will have a delicious lunch in a traditional restaurant in Sukothai before we continue the round trip through the wild and romantic mountains. Our next destination is the ancient city of Lampang.
After a short sightseeing tour through the old town of Lampang we check in the hotel. The rest of the day is free to spend as you wish. Overnight near Lampang.
DAY 6: LAMPANG - PHAYAO - CHIANG RAI (B,L,)
Today the journey continues through an untouched and magical mountain landscape. Enjoy the magnificent views as you continue to Phayao, home to Thailand's largest inland lake. On this Phayao Lake, you take a contemplative small boat trip to an idyllically located temple. You visit the impressive temple complex of Wat Tilok-Aram, which is located in the middle of the lake.
After a lunch, the journey continues north. In the afternoon we reach the beautiful Wat Rong Khun, the so-called White Temple. The impressive monument is one of Thailand's main Buddhist attractions. What is striking is that it was designed entirely in white. An incomparable building of its kind that will enchant you.
After the visit we continue to Chiang Rai, your next stop, which is about 8 kilometers away. After checking in at the hotel, you now have some free time again.
Overnight in Chiang Rai.
DAY 7: CHIANG RAI - GOLDEN TRIANGLE - CHIANG MAI (B,L,)
Shortly after breakfast we set off towards Chiang Saen, a town on the bank of the Mekong that is well worth seeing. Enjoy breathtaking views of the Golden Triangle from a hilltop temple lookout point. Now we first visit a small opium museum worth seeing before we have a traditional lunch in a cozy restaurant on the banks of the Mekong. Freshly strengthened, the journey continues via Chiang Rai and Wiang Papao to Chiang Mai. We arrive here in the afternoon and as the last point of the day we will visit the landmark of Chiang Mai - the mountain temple Wat Doi Suthep.
